The "Visions of Eden" series began in 1990 when my
husband, Tomas, and I were living as Artists in
Residence at the historic Oatlands Plantation in
Leesburg, Virginia.
As a newlywed in a formal garden setting it was easy
for me to dream of what Eden may have been like.
Each painting became a prayer, drawing me closer to
the Creator.
The formation of a world long forgotten began to take
form before my eyes. I felt the joys of the Creator as
well as his sorrow for the paradise lost and what He
knew must follow.
Rich purple hues filled with a raw sense of newness
moved across my canvas. I watched shapes take form
and added highlights and shadow to clarify to others
what I was seeing.
My prayer for you: that each painting will draw you in
to a deeper reflection of the mystery and love of God,
(as Creator, Savior, and Comforter).
